Editorial Type: News     Date: 03-2014    Views: 2292

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, is working with HP to deliver a converged data centre and IT management platform solution

A new joint solution from Schneider Electric and HP will provide consistent views for both the facilities and IT professionals within any organisation, resulting in increased collaboration and efficiency, the two companies state.

This will feature HP Converged Management Consulting Services (CMCS), combined with Schneider Electric's Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution, StruxureWare for Data Centers.

"By collaborating with HP to provide a holistic approach to managing IT business process assets and workloads, we are continuing to bridge the gap between IT and facilities," says Soeren Jensen, vice president, enterprise management and software, Schneider Electric. "Enabling IT service providers to instantly view the impact of any changes in their data centre, as well as the operational costs associated with these changes, is an important step towards improving energy efficiency in data centres and IT."

WORLD RANKING
Meanwhile Schneider Electric has been awarded a world ranking as one of the 100 most advanced companies in the field of sustainable development.

The 2014 ranking comes courtesy of 'Corporate Knights' and marks the third consecutive year it has singled out Schneider Electric, which figures 10th in the list.

The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World ranking by Corporate Knights, the Canadian magazine for clean capitalism, consists of the top 100 performing stocks worldwide, based on a range of sector-specific sustainability metrics. Data for the project is primarily collected from Bloomberg and through direct engagement with the 350 companies that made the project's shortlist, selected amongst the largest global cap stocks.

Said Jean-Pascal Tricoire, chairman and CEO, Schneider Electric: "Integrating the top 10 ranking this year and emerging as the leader in our industry is a strong incentive and encouragement to increase our engagement in sustainability."

Since 2005, Schneider Electric measures and publishes its progress on a quarterly basis through its sustainability dashboard, the Planet & Society Barometer. It consists of 14 indicators across three key areas of the group sustainability development strategy: economy, environment and society. This tool allows Schneider Electric to evaluate and assess, on a regular basis, its actions for sustainable development and share results with all its stakeholders.
